itll work fine behind the dash

not sure how your car is exactly but the shark fin on the roof is usually for satellite radio etc...GPS reciever (at least in my vehicles) is behind the nav unit in the upper part of the dash.

Maybe it is the satellite antennae and not the GPS.

I went ahead and mounted the antenna in the trunk area of the car, which in a 911 is the front. It is sitting under the black plastic cowling lining the bottom part of the front windshield, so it should get a good signal. It is a dry location.

I did a quick plug-in test today. Yup, noticed an LED on the GPS antenna itself, and a larger one on the R/G unit.

Let me see if I understand:

GPS antenna LED: normal (signal ok) = blinking?

    R/G LED: normal = ____?

Yes, blinking red LED on the GPS antenna = signal OK

If you're using the HiFi control set, it will also announce if the GPS signal's been lost (I think the LED on the std control set flickers red briefly if this happens)

My r/g module is tucked away under the dash, so can't remember what that does, although constant green LED comes to mind

No hifi here. Good to know about the antenna blinking! That will be handy.

Update: Confirmed. I can't see the R/G module either. It's also tucked away now.

I remember hearing something about time and geotagging alerts with the GPS receiver. Is this feature going to happen, and if so, when? I might have to order a GPS antenna if this feature is added.

Too many more important things being worked on. Protection is always first before non important features. Eventually stats will be redone but that won't happen until other things being worked on get completed.

Before looking at an Escort Radar Detector you should really check out Uniden Detectors.. Uniden R1 & R3 are the best performing radar detectors for the money.

So does AL Display take priority over this? Acutally, I'm kinda hoping it does, because then I could order the display + GPS antenna in one go and save on shipping

Display & Stat Logs are at the bottom of a long list of things being developed at the moment.
