Possible reasons for an Error 2 message?

So I pull into the bank, go in and make my deposit, come back out and start the Expedition, ALP starts screaming "Error Two, check cabling and head, Error 2" over and over. I turn the truck off, restart, same thing. So I see if driving will do anything. Drive about 3 miles, pulled into Target, shut everything down, start it back up, no error.

So I am driving home on I-285 and turn into the setting sun when I realize that when I parked at the bank at 4:30PM the setting sun was pointed right at the front sensors. Can the Sun cause an Error 2 if pointed at the RX heads at the correct angle especially during start-up self-test?

Yes, Error 2 is usually an interference error and if all sensors on one side of the vehicle are compromised it will set off an Error 2. Direct sun can trigger an Error 2.

In my cases, I’ve started w the occasional error two but over the coming months they became more prevalent. Sometime when you get that error you can save the file and go back and review the missing sensor to identify the culprit. In my case it has been a failing sensor every time. I’ve had alp since the first series of sensors (P1xxxx w the big DIN) and over the years I’ve lost probably 3 out of 12.
I have no complaints because they are still the only reason I’m still driving!
