Mailed my magnum off for the BS and RDR update via canada post. Every thing was going fine until I gave the shipping address for escort in Manchester OH

The women taking my information stopped glared at the computer screen and said to me that she had never seen this before and had to call a manager. When the manger arrived ,and after looking at the computer screen she asked me what was in the box.

I replied a electronic device. She then insisted what type of device. At this point I asked what was on the computer screen. She would not tell me. I told her it was a gps for warranty repair .

she was not satisfied and asked to see it. I refused and showed her the email from escort with my return number and where it said return for repair. This seemed to satisfy her and she made a few notes on the computer. Then she asked me for my D. L. I was in disbelief and replied I don't drive. She looked at me like I was full of shi+ and made a very short input into the computer then fixed the label to my package provided me my tracking number and sent my package on its way.

Sure seems strange to me. I Have sent my RD off many times and never experienced anything like this before.
But then again this is Ontario. It would not surprise me if our wonderful Ontario government wants to track RD ownership.

I always laugh when Canadians tell me they live in a free country. I just point them to Ontario.

It's the whole security thing and the US bureaucracy is paranoid ... let's not forget that scary clock boy !

Shipping an electronic device to the US would set off alarm bells.

You're so right. We live in a complete Police state in this POS province. I hate living here.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Corrupt POS Lieberal Gov't of Onterrible started doing this. Under the law, you are not required to show your DL to anyone OTHER THAN A POLICE OFFICER. If they refuse to ship the package without photo ID, tell them you're going home to get your Passport and will show it to them when you return.

Having said that, I've sent my STi-R Plus antenna twice, and my old STi Driver, once to Escort in the past without this BS happening. Hope this is not the new norm going forward. I would call Escort to make sure they got your Magnum and tell them what happened at the Post Office to make sure the Magnum won't be confiscated on the return to your house. Good luck!

Geez Wolf the only jurisdiction left in the country is Saskatchewan and even that is "Progressive" Conservative.

Lol ... You should head to Texas before Trump starts building walls or Carson starts bombing caves.

The trend is there ...i would not be surprised they check everything based on the postal code ...they will deny the fact ...all is made in full secrecy.

Well how then can we send our radar equipment to them and vice versa? This has never been an issue in the past. When I questioned an employee at Escort once about why they couldn't ship new units to Ontario, I was told there was a dispute with the Provincial Gov't not wanting to collect taxes on something that is technically illegal here. Returns and repairs didn't require taxes being paid, so they had no issue with that (until maybe now)

This is undeniably the result of your parents & grandparents welcoming that invasion of leftist commie-pinko ultra-liberal draft dodgers into Canadia in the 1960's & 70's

In fact i sent my Redline for the BS feature without any issue . Was the OP event an exception or the tip of the iceberg ?

The Qc law stipulates that a corporation found to sell rds may have to pay $50,000 fine . Wonder how they can fine a corp operating outside canadian territory under a provincial law ?

I think the rd manufacturers use the principle of precaution . I know for a fact than us\can carriers scan\sniff a good % of transiting goods.

Absolutely... And what did we end up with - universal health care, a solvent national pension plan, sane gun laws, 60 day elections.

It's a hell hole!

Sounds like too much bipartisan democracy to me.
Put up a fence to keep it from going south please

I find this hilarious because I ship firearms via Canada Post all the time with no problems haha

I've even had unlocked pistols and crates of ammunition left on my front door step by delivery guys (obviously didnt know what was in them) and say there all day until I got home from work...but a RD is a problem haha :rolf:

If you have the proper licenses and follow the Firearms Act you can do this if you don't you're a felon.

The issue with the OP is that he was evasive with Canada Post about the contents of the package. It's not the provincial jurisdiction here it's the US authorities are very particular about packages being shipped into the US. This is all about US homeland security.

It's also about the DEA's paranoia that marijuana seeds will be shipped into the USA. As if there would otherwise be no such seeds.

IMO
It's the agribusiness companies like Monsanto and other genetic modifiers that want to corner the market on Marijuana seeds.
The plants grown from their GMO seed will be engineered to be sterile so that the grower needs to return to the company for active seed in order to continue production
Their lobbyists have huge influence on the DEA, FDA, ICC, & the AARP.
They have legislators from all sides/extremes of the aisle in their stash as well

I sent my Magnum to Escort (West Chester, OH) for the update from a Scarborough Canada Post office last week, and didn't have any issues! I got an email from Escort saying the Magnum has been shipped back to me, so I expect mine back soon. I'll let you guys know how it looks when it arrives.

Does anyone know where to test Ka Band in Toronto?

No change in how it looks but now it's like my redline with all the different options for RDR on/off and the ability to segment Ka. As you know Ka in this area is rare so I can't comment on Ka range yet. I am pretty cautious with it until I know for sure it will preform as it should. There was a post on the bel site from someone who stated that he wasn't picking up K band once he got his Rd back I'm sure I'm good with K as I pick up shopper's drug mart and the liquor store still. (;

With my newly updated Magnum BS/RDR (2/5/8 on), I picked up a Ka signal over 2 km in distance on the DVP in Toronto today. Very impressed with the new Magnum!
