For those of you in NSW.

Heads up, NSW POL is certainly doing rear shots.

This photo was from an intercept on the Hume Hwy.

Photo was found on the TrafficServicesNSWPF facebook page.

at 400m back, the cop really must have been hiding up an on ramp.

Guessing NSW POL had two cars working this kind of trap.

:rofl-1: - now that is hilarious !
Looks like an olde Ford coupe w/ that monster antenna from WWII, from its size it was prolly below the old S-band radar frequency, that musta had a 10Km range.
I had a link w/ some of the very 1st Police radars used for speed enforcement in Conn. in the late 1940s-50s time frame. I'll have to see if I can find that again.

You think that's olde ?
Let go further back to the 1940s & see the "Electro-Matic RadarSpeed Meter" - Connecticut State Police & Merritt Pkwy enforcement.

A great history read including some olde videos, too.

The guy was going 159 KPH!? With cosine error it must have been higher!?

Cosine is not as pronounced with laser/lidar as radar, maybe 1kph in this instance given they would have been on a side on-ramp. Wouldn't matter in this instance, 45kph big fine (over 2K) and loss of license and plates etc....

This is why I'm considering rear protection in my new setup, I was pinged a year back and somehow talked my way out of it. I wasn't speeding that's why of course. I always worry about rear, because surely it looks suss when they don't get a reading and then suddenly your brakes light up? But really what can they do right?
