View Full Version : What's the most ridiculous ALP feature request you can think of?

For me, it would be customizable sounds in the voice pack. Upload your own audio files to alpupdate.com and have it spit out a customized voice pack of background sounds to use for the HiFi Control Set.

For example, when powering up: http://www.trekcore.com/audio/other/power_up1_clean.mp3
Defense mode active: http://www.trekcore.com/audio/brig/forcefield_on.mp3
Kill-before-jam: http://www.trekcore.com/audio/brig/forcefield_off.mp3
Laser alert: http://www.trekcore.com/audio/redalertandklaxons/tng_red_alert3.mp3
Continuing to jam gun: http://www.trekcore.com/audio/weapons/tng_fireallweapons_ep.mp3
When hitting the JTK button: http://www.trekcore.com/audio/cloaking/cloak_romulan.mp3

Just to be clear: I do NOT actually want AL to implement this. You guys have better things to do :)
But if this existed, I think my friends would get a kick out of it.

Think of all the trekkies and gamers that would buy the system just for the sound effects :smiley-laughing:

Seriously, just give me the ability to update the ALP and set settings on the ALPCONECT app for droid and ios and I'd be happy as a clam. This whole USB thumbdrive thing makes me nuts!!

Your promise? So in the future when we eventually give you this you promise to be as happy as a clam and stop complaining about it?

WWBG (What Would Be Great) is a system where all countermeasures sync up, and get recorded that you can later download to Google Maps with timestamps, etc.

Radar hits with frequency, laser hits by gun type, all location and timestamped, add to that how fast you were driving at the time.

I promise, I'll be the first in line to get the new app that does that :):)

BTW, when are you going to get the ci head that'll integrate into the ALPs??

It can do it now if you connect it and use the Sti-R Plus settings. After some testing it appears the 9500CI head already supported RDR/BS but the CPU for some reason was not allowing it. After we found this out we asked Kasher what Escort updated in his system and sure enough they only updated the CPU which confirmed what we were seeing.

That's all they did with the RL as well when I sent it in two years ago for testing the BSRDR too. (which then begs the question of why the Magnum isnt getting BSRDR???) Different hardware or LNA perhaps??

Like everyone else, ECMExpert will be happy as a clam for about a week, then will find something else to complain about :)

Or that is what we have been told.

Those sounds are actually amazing and I'd love those.

You can do custom sounds with YaV1 to get it to actually say things like "34.7" or "35.5" during a Ka alert. Very useful and I love that feature. It'd be great to have something similar for ALP alerts if desired.

I like it saying "Thirty four seven" instead of "thirty four point seven" and being able to choose the exact voices are a really nice touch.

I had a look (listen) to the audio updates, and I can kind-of hear the voices, but no matter how much I manipulated the audio, I couldn't get a clean wave file. It might be encrypted on a serial number basis.

If I could sort out the file format, I could write some userland software so we could make our own.

Here's my suggestions for new sounds: http://nt4.com/custom_alp_samples_perhaps.mp3 (sorry< i was sampling a kids toy)

My wish list feature would be to have a high res colour display (similar to Escort Max) + a nicer backlit control that looks a little higher quality and with dedicated function buttons instead of the complex sequence presses that we are dealing with right now (similar to the 9500ci controller).
Also wish for a way to incorporate camera/vascar database + radar autolearn and false lockout that's currently on the Belsocrt products.
Another nice feature would be to integrate the V1 style arrows into the display module for radar signals.
I'm pretty sure if these itenms are added, the full ALP package would be the one and only device for everything we could possibly want

I felt the ALP-CI was more hotter than the ALP-Plus when I was messing around with it very very early on..

Cannot believe it already had BSRDR

What about K Segments? Though.

And I stupidly bought the Plus for 800$AUS head only and gave the CI to my father..

Ok back to topic

I would like to see Radar Lockouts in ALPconnect
Or ALP integrated into something similar to YaV1 so they dont get sued.

If someone want to open a redline, I'll tear my magnum apart.

Most ridiculous ALP feature request? How about a "Speak 'n Spell" voice pack, so you can make a game out of trying to figure out what the heck it just said. "Whoop Whoop mfxxzffze erv oovwxzzyfzz". Hmmm, was that Markman or PL3?? :)

It could be marketed as the "Lo-Fi" control set, for those who can't afford the "Hi-Fi".

Find me someone at Stinger that would discuss this and AL would probably offer it.

I dont have a redline but would love to see the comparison between the two like BRD did with the + and CI.

Actually, for a fully serious, not that hard to implement feature...

It could actually be done quite easily... instead of all waiting for the voice to tell you what's going down, you could have an option to route the pulses directly to audio.

It would sound, almost exactly like this: ProLaser II signal via speaker (http://youtu.be/hTWOQUmVK3A)

I'll be uploading instructions on how to make your own LiDAR based home laser tag system later this week.

I sure hope the al display doesn't go the way of the max, that looks like wash out city in direct sunlight. Definitely agree with integrating the V1 arrows though, that would be nice, and since it'd be hardwired, I wouldn't experience the random disconnects with the YaV1 app (I think it's something to do with my phone, not necessarily the app)

Facebook/Twitter integration for immediate posts when you get it by something.

You know...since it's the type of thing you'd want to advertise :chargrined:
