This thread will be for the discussion of the ALP Connect for Android Users. Please note that ALP Connect Android will ONLY work on Android Phones using Android 4.3 or higher and the phone needs to support Bluetooth 4.0. Bluetooth 4.0 consumes very little energy and will have very little drain on your battery. I have been running the Final a few days now and have left the app in the background and have not noticed any change to my battery life. When I start my car it immediately connects and when I leave the car it disconnects. I want to take a moment to also thank all of the Beta users that helped get this product ready.

You will also require ALP Firmware: 4.5.1 or higher. 4.5.1 is being released today.

You can find ALP Connect in the Google Play store... Here is the direct link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alpriority.alpconnect

Official Description:

ALPConnect™ application is developed to add audio and visual notifications as well as to allow you to control your AL Priority® Multipurpose Laser System over a Bluetooth® v 4.0 Low Energy supported smartphone.

Watch Laser and Radar alerts from your AL Priority system like never before!
Identify front hit from a rear hit.
Get voice alerts and voice identifications of each Laser type encountered.
Command your AL Priority over a touchscreen of your smartphone.
Record history of Laser/Radar encounters with date, time, your speed of travel and exact type of Laser/Radar encountered.

With this app. wired AL Priority Control Set is no longer necessary.
Your smartphone becomes the ALP user interface and the only thing visible in the cabin of your car.
Remove your smartphone when leaving the car and no-one will be the wiser about your AL Priority installation.

The app. connects wireless over a Bluetooth to your ALPConnect Bluetooth Module equipped (sold separately) AL Priority System.

The app. is free, you may download it from the store and check out it's DEMO mode even if you have not yet acquired the BlueTooth module for you ALP system.

Please Note: This app is fully functional only when connected to the AL Priority laser/radar detector system. To purchase or inquire about AL Priority systems or an optional ALPConnect BT Module go to www.alpriority.com.

This app. can run in the background to extend the life of your battery. Enable notifications on your device to receive alerts while the app. is in the background.

Sorry... It needs a minimum of 4.3 or later and BT 4.0 support. Check with the Android Forums out there and see if you can push your own upgrade on it. I was able to update my 4 year old Galaxy Nexus to 4.4 with Rom's that were out there.

Great news for ALP users.

FWIW:
I ran some of the later Betas (still am), and it has worked excellent for me. I would expect the official release experience to be as good, if not better.

My S3 works fine mate, but I never checked it on 4.4.2.
I installed a custom ROM on mine so it runs kitkat and ALP runs sweet

I am not an ALP Connect user. However, I installed the ALPConnect app on my Nexus 5 with Android Lollipop to see how it would work in demo mode. Just want to let you guys know that when I hit SCAN, the app sometimes crashes, and I get a notification that "Unfortunately, ALPConnect has stopped". This happened about 2-3 times, but seems to have stopped occurring now.

Its the same.... There is only one BT module and it works on both so if you have it you are already good to go.

Is it possible to use the regular control set and the Bluetooth module at the same time? Sorry if I over looked the answer somewhere. The reason I ask is because I like the normal control set alarm and buttons for JTK.

How do you JTK with the app if you have it in the background and waze in the foreground?

No, You cant use both. If you are getting hit ALP Connect will not be in the foreground. Even if you locked your screen and before you locked the screen ALP Connect was in the foreground and you are hit the phones screen will power on, phone will unlock automatically and the app will come front all within around a second. Then you can Kill though the app if you want.

Just installed the app and it looks great on my Moto G.

Quick suggestion. I have no idea how the Play Store works, but if you can add keywords for "antilaser" and "anti laser," that would help with searching for the app. I couldn't find it since I didn't know the name of the app was ALP Connect and nothing related to "AntiLaser Priority" was bringing up the app.

Thanks!!
I got it to work on my AT&T S5 v4.4.2. It does not work on my Sprint S4 v4.4.2.

From my computer:
I downloaded ALP firmware 4.5.1 from http://www.alpupdate.com/firmwareupdate after entering my serial number located on ALP control module.
Copied file to the USB drive.

In the car:
Plugged USB drive into ALP control module.

On iPhone 4s cell phone:
Powered on iPhone 4s and ran the 4.5.1 update by clicking on the ALP Connect app (it would not run from the S5 or S4).

On S5 and S4:
Searched Google Play for "ALP CONNECT" with no luck, searched "alpconnect" and found it under apps.
Installed ALP Connect app on both AT&T Android S5 and Sprint S4. I was prompted for a 4 digit pin on S5 which I found on the BT module (thanks to guys above!).

Once ALP module was updated to 4.5.1 everything started working on AT&T Android S5
Sprint Android S4 v4.4.2 crashed with error "restart BT" after several attempts

I really didn't want to use my Android S5 (work phone) for non business related activities but I have no choice until the bugs are fixed ;-(

The ALPConnect is truly bad arsed and I feel that there are a few misconceptions out there that had me on the fence about using / trusting it. If the app disconnects there is a disconnect sound, same on reconnect, there will also be a notification. Now if you only have the phone speaker I can see where this might be a problem if something did cause the connection to fail, but for those that can get the sound through their car audio you should be golden I'd think.

From a bt headset in a helmet for motorcycle application point of view, this is just awesome, plus as an added bonus if you run the YaV1 app, it will constantly disconnect and reconnect if the ALPConnect is disconnected because the app keeps interrupting the bt signal trying to auto reconnect, however it does not interrupt on the transmit side to my Sena bt system, and it is LOUD in helmet. Highly recommend this option for motorcycles, plus it'll be an easier reach and less conspicuous to JTK if you run your phone as I do in a tank mount cradle.

So a huge thanks to Tom, AL & all of you beta testers for making this happen. And also a shout out for SLO for super fast shipping and better packaging than most retailers, greatly appreciated.

As ypu mentioned the problem is that not all of us get audio through our car speakers. I had my phone crash right before passing an LEO @+25 not too long ago and I didn't notice the LED or hear the sound from the disconnect. This is where the HiFi will shine for people like me. Its great to have options too!

Installing the external LED is important when using BT so you can always see ALP is active and running. I also stream my music from my phone with BT and no chance of missing a hit if the music is pumped up.

Also, another option for loud enough audio through the phone would be either a wired or bluetooth external speaker.

We use this one for the hot tub,, it's more than loud enough, battery lasts 7-8 hrs (or plug into usb power) and it's small; same length as a Note 3 and about 2/3 as wide.
And it's water/dust resistant.

Paid $30 shipped.

Just went to go watch the super bowl and came back and with that ending, I'm speechless...

Talking about the ALP BT module, I ran it connected to my Android there and back and it disconnected during the drive both times and wouldn't automatically reconnect. Moto G 4.4.2 rooted, 1.1A for the app, and whatever the latest firmware is for the ALP. The only way I was able to get anything working was to go back into the app and manually tell it to reconnect. Pretty scary to have my ALP's shut off like that and the only way I'd know is if I'd hear the weird disconnect sound from my phone and see the notification at the very top of the phone saying it's now disconnected.

I like the way the app operates in general, but having connectivity errors like this and not being able to trust the reliability of the app would make me want to go back to the HiFi module for good. I know I could run the external LED on, but I've got version 1 of the CPU which makes that LED really BRIGHT and undimmable. It's kinda blinding in my instrument cluster. Heck, even if I could dim it, I'd tune that light out just like most everything else in my dash and realistically I probably wouldn't notice if the light turned off anyways.

I ran a screencap recording the whole time and can show what it looked like on my phone if necessary, but it's basically the app disconnecting and trying to reconnect in the background but not being able to. When I switch back over to the app you just see the connecting popup. I have to cancel and manually connect to the BT module for it to work.

Might have something to do with your rooted phone or you hit the cancel button when the disconnect/reconnect message popped up. I always leave the app in the background and even if I forget to take the phone out of my pocket I hear the phone connect after the car starts. When I leave the car a few seconds after I shut it off I get the disconnect sound. As long as you do not cancel the reconnect screen it will keep looking to re-establish the connection but if you cancel the reconnection alert that pops up it will not re-connect because you are basically telling it not too once you cancel that alert. If you just back out of the app it will stay in that mode and re-connect automatically.

If you use the External LED you also will know when you are connected and the system is on and defending you.

So I took another look through the videos to see exactly what happened.

The first time it actually automatically reconnected after a minute and a half. I was wrong about what I said earlier. (Glad to have video.) :)

In the second time I probably didn't give it enough time and had to manually reconnect it. I cancelled it after 65 seconds of being down and it worked when I manually reconnected.

Also, the connect/disconnect sounds are identical so I can't tell the difference easily when things start going wrong.

YOu might have other issues going on. How many different BT connections are you running? You might be at your phones max connections. If you are using Live, YaV1, ALP, Car, Etc. you might have issues with your phone. I run 1 connection from CPU to ALP Connect and one from Connect to my Car and if I drop a connection which is rare it will reconnect within seconds.

Its possible signal is having issues running both Android & Apple devices with BT connections in car. Try playing around with them and see if you can find what is causing the interference. Start with just your phone with ALP Connect. Disconnect power and power back up and see how quick it re-connects.

Okay so I've narrowed it down to the V1C. ALP Connect works fine on its own, but if you have YaV1 running at the same time, the ALP struggles to automatically connect initially and it also keeps dropping the connection and has trouble reconnecting. If I unplug my V1C module, the ALP does just fine. There's no problems with YaV1 maintaining connection so at least for me, I can't use this app with YaV1 and I also can't use it to pair to my car and play audio through my stereo. Is anyone else able to run YaV1 and ALP Connect simultaneously and maintain a solid connect for both apps?

May be a limitation to the amount of connections your phone can handle at once. I know Mirage was running both and felt that they were fighting over the GPS at one point but did not mention any problems connecting to both.

I don't run it all the time, but I do occasionally run YaV1 and ALP Connect without issues. I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S4. I haven't tried it in a while so let me give it a shot on the current release and see if it happens to me as well.

On the back of your BT module

Just replaced my android phone and need to resync the ALP Connect software with the BT Module, I forgot the Bluetooth pin and unfortunately did not write it down. Is there anyway to find this out without opening my dash to read it off the sticker on the the Bluetooth Module.
I know, it was a stupid mistake.. but whats done is done...

I'm thinking Maybe using a BT Scan Utility or something similar ?

If not.. I'll break out the old Torx Driver and get to disassembling.

Thanks in Advance...

YOu cant scan a PIN Number, The Pin Number is only on the back of your unit and it might even be on the white box that it came in if you still have that.

Hi, I love the ALP and the Android app, they have saved me so many times that I can't keep count anymore.

I'd like to report one small bug: when I walk away from my car and the app disconnects I get a "Disconnected!" notification that I can't dismiss by swiping. All other ALPConnect notifications can be dismissed, but not this one. I have to force stop the app to get it to go away.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

The reason it stays active and cant be stopped is because if you close it the app can not auto re-connect when you return to your vehicle. When leaving the vehicle just hit the back button and leave it active and when you return it will auto connect.

Ah gottcha, that would be bad. I just didnt like that i could not swipe the disconnected notification away. The bt module has been great. I just need a new one for ota updates at some point, but other than that its a rock solid ststem.
