As promised the AL Priority HiFi Module will be released before the end of the year. Engineers are finishing up the firmware and all professional voices have been completed. We used the same professionals that were used for the ALP Connect voices for the HiFi Module. I hope to start Beta Testing it shortly and have it rolled out the last week of December to those that are interested in upgrading their Control Modules. The HiFi Module is a new Control Module with an External Speaker which will replace your old Control Module.

3097

Here is a Female Voice Sample.. 3098
Here is a Male Voice Sample.. 3100

Upgrade price has not been nailed down yet because we wont know exact final costs until we get the shipment and calculate freight and all import & customs fee's but to show our appreciation for the early adopters we expect to intro it around $59.95 to existing customers. We will only have 100 available at a special upgrade price. The upgrade will only be available to existing registered users and once we run out the price will move to $99.95 which will be the regular price for all new purchasers adding the option to new ALP systems in January when the new retail bundles are available.

ALP Update Site will soon add more files that will need to be downloaded for HiFi and shortly will look like this:

3135

I will have to create a new how to setup your ALP Guide but for now there will be separate firmware for:

1. Firmware for the Standard Control Set
2. Firmware for the HiFi Control Set

To use HiFi you will need to update the firmware on the HiFi Control Set (We might pre-install on the upgrades) but you will need to choose which voice pack you want to install. Initially there will be US (Male & Female) versions available. Eventually AL will add additional languages for those that might not speak English.

Pre-Order Page for existing ALP customers: http://www.alpriorityusa.com/AL-Priority-HiFi-Module-Upgrade.html

Check out the sound demo below to hear the actual sounds of the ALP menus:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GZy5hv9HRw&feature=youtu.be

....

To Update you can load all setup files on one drive and there are no issues loading all files at once. It takes around 5 minutes for all files to load and get updated.

Drive included:

3242

IMPORTANT: Please START YOUR VEHICLE or be in a power setting where your vehicle power will not cut the ignition power off or you could loose power during the update which would cause issues since the process takes over 5 minutes to load and update all of the files. In my car in accessory power after a few minutes if the car is not started accessory power will turn off. If your vehicle does the same then start the vehicle to make sure you will not have a power loss during the update.

To upgrade, would we be sending in the old controllers too, as well as paying the $60 (or whatever it ends up being)?
I'm probably going to do this, I like the idea of having the voices when not using the app.

You keep the old controller as a backup. This is a special offer only to previously registered users. In January we expect to also sell ALP's with the option of the HiFi module and it will be packaged with the HiFi instead of the standard controller for those that choose that bundle.

There is a small amplifier build into the small control module so no external power is needed. Just connect the speaker to the input on the new Controller and you are good to go.

Excellent! Sign me up!! I've been eagerly awaiting this for a while now. Interesting to see it replacing the Control Module. I figured it'd simply be a speaker, but I presume that's needed since there's not a dedicated speaker port in the CPU?

One issue that I'm going to have is my installer glued the control unit of my ALP to the dash. I'm probably going to have to figure out some way of tearing the old control unit off to get the new control unit on. I'm not even sure what type of glue they used.

Use fishing line, dental floss or similar to get behind it and separate it from the dash. Then goof off or alcohol to prep for new install.

What works really good is braided fishing line, If you do not have any go to a local fishing store ( NOT walmart) and ask them if you can have like 3 feet of 40-60 lbs braided line..... What i do is loop 1 end and use a pen to pull the line to cut thru the tape or glue.
If you do this, When pulling on the braid, make sure that when you are pulling on the side with the loop that your pulling up and away from what ever the C/P is attached to, so you dont scratch the area of the car where it is glued to.
If It is in deed glue.... Then i would use a hair dryer to soften the adhesive and go a little at a time working that braid thru it....
When you get to doing this and if you are having problems just P/M me and maybe i can help walking you thru doing it.. Just take your time

I would assume sometime in January or February. We have been working with AL for a long time on getting the HiFi module done and we worked out the special initial upgrade order several months ago to make sure our early adopters would be taken care of first. There is nothing worse than being an early adopter and feeling that you got screwed because you invested in a product early. I wanted to make sure that did not happen to our early ALP customers.

Might be silly question but, Will the controller still have the "Beeps" or just the speaker sound?

The beeps can be heard very well even over loud music and is a very distinct tone, just wondering about volume and speaker placement options to make sure I can hear it.

No. It will only have the HiFi sounds through the speaker. If you are happy with the regular sounds there would be no reason for you to upgrade.

Awesome to see this finally become available, I have been waiting for it since i bought the system. Few questions:
Does the voice alerts notify front or rear for laser alert?
Does it read out the frequency of radar encounter?
What is the mounting system like for the speaker? Would it still be audible if it was mounted behind plastic trim panel?

For future when the display option comes out, would the whole set needs to be replaced again?

I cant go into details on the future releases but the goal is to eliminate the ALP Update Site if you are running BT. We have been adding additional features to the Control Module and all those features will be in future releases of ALP Connect.

Voice alerts will tell you ahead or behind just like ALP Connect does now. We are testing frequencies but not sure if it will be included. We really only have a small amount of users less than 1% who utilize the radar integration. Maybe not at first but maybe in the future as the system is built to be expandable so nothing is set in stone. AntiLaser is also looking at more radar capabilities in the future but I can not go into details. Just know we are never satisfied and the system will only continue to get better. As for the speaker just like the Escort Speaker you will not want to cover it for clarity and loudness.

Possible Sound Sample: 3106

If AL puts readout of which radar subband is being used into the HiFi Control Set, then I'm even more sold on it than I already am, and that would completely override my concerns about not being able to hear the speaker (as in, even if it was hard to hear, I'd make the tradeoff and just deal with it).

I am still on the fence if I want to get one of these or not. I have only been hit once since I installed my ALP and I am not sure exactly how loud or noticeable the alert is. I had my music turned down when I was hit so I heard it but I am curious if it will get my attention with the radio turned up, which is how I have it most of the time.

Perfect! The control set is mounted with Velcro to the dash right next to the climate control to the left and the box is under the passenger dash but it's getting tight in there with all the wires I have running to it and bundled up.

Yeah I have a pretty similar setup, box is up above the glovebox and ran the wire to the control set under/behind the shifter/climate control and it's stuck to the lower dash to the right of the steering column. I'm guessing it should be easy to zip tie and or 3m tape the speaker up under there somewhere.

Where does everyone recommend mounting the speaker? Only place I have in my car currently is near where the ALP CPU is in the open area behind the dash, above the gas pedals, and below/behind the steering wheel. Not sure if I'll be able to hear it very well down there though.

My car looks very similar to this inside: http://gtcarlot.com/data/Toyota/Corolla/1999/1760648/Dashboard-66470523.html
ALP control set is currently mounted on the dash, to the right of the steering wheel (just above where the cruise control is in the picture). One big difference is that there isn't a large compartment below the radio because I have a CD player in that space, so mounting there isn't an option.

The upgrade price is something we are personally doing for our customers. I had to buy a lot of them and after everything will make little or no money. I doubt anyone else would be offering the upgrade at close to the same price.

I would guess he will probably offer it at the $99.95 retail price. If you want pricing on it contact him and ask what it would be priced out when he gets them. I cant speak for the other dealers.

I need to get in on this preorder, thanks :D

Hoping next week.. AL & Myself came to one conclusion this past week. (Never roll out a new product near the holiday's) We wont do this again. Shipping has been a nightmare and I have one shipment still stuck in customs for 5 days. Really nothing.... Unless you are using the switch and can switch back and forth. Right now the Control Set manually will have more features (Change LID Settings, Etc.) But those will be available through ALP Connect in future updates. HiFi was really designed for users that did not want to use ALP Connect.

Can you clarify please?
Does this mean that both the manual control set & the HiFi control set "have more features (Change LID Settings, Etc.)" vs ALP Connect to be upgraded in the future?

Yes, We already released in the last update the ability to change many settings through the control set (Both standard and HiFi) that was once only done through the setup file. In the future we would like to try to do away with the update site and allow all changes be done through ALP Connect.

Can someone explain Pro-Mode for me? From what I am understanding, normal is a constant beep and LED flash after you have been hit until you kill it and Pro is when it beeps and flashed dynamically. Am I correct? Does anyone have a video showing Pro mode?

Pro Mode is when the LED illuminates only when you're being actively targeted, and goes dark if you aren't being actively targeted. It's good for determining whether you're actually being painted, or whether you just picked up momentary scatter.

Most USPS packages are like that during the Christmas shipping rush. If you want detailed shipping information, just request delayed shipping after the rush next time. They most always arrive on time. Give USPS a chance to hit their target. I will take getting it sooner over detailed shipping information any day.

We've sent our mortgage payment certified mail every month for the past ten years (out of state bank/Fidelity, Wichita, KS) because the bank constantly lied and charged us late fees every other month, claiming it arrived one day late (first class mail). They only tried it once after we began using certified and we caught them red-handed lying. However, the tracking frequently shows the mail "out for delivery"/"available for pickup" one or two days before they sign for it. btw, three more payments and we give them the middle finger :whoo:

Soo... My HiFi update was not very smooth...

After updating all the firmware and attempting to power on the unit the first 9 or 10 attempts ended like this...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IH_dfpIPNyI

I then attempted to reload firmware (which it skipped I assume since it was the same version) and then this happened 3 or 4 times...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61Iln0gtI4k

I again attempted to reload the firmware (skipped again) and it finally turned on properly... then it died during my first test. Note that I was still shooting with my tester for a few seconds after it died. I clipped the video since there was about 30 seconds of nothing as I tried various things assuming the LI tester was having issues while standing in front of the car lol

Most likely you did not let the update complete when updating the voicepack initially. It takes much longer to update than firmware.. Almost 4+ minutes.

The update did take longer than the previous ones. I think the system died during the update after it attempted to reboot itself and the sound was somewhat distorted as it died. So you are probably right in that something likely didn't finish updating. I am just glad it's working well now. This may be a sign that I should use a newer flash drive for updates even.

I am familiar with the buzzing in the last video as it is very similar to the standard control set buzz during an alert in pro mode. I was just testing the various alerts for front/rear and getting use to how it sounds when being shot multiple times, short shots, longs shots, etc.

They charge a fee for online or over the phone payments. I hate Fidelity bank. They also don't pay interest on the escrow money (part of the original mortgage contract, which they bought from Chase) I've complained to the NYS banking commission and they won't do anything because it's an out-of-state bank and "not subject to State rules", despite both the property and original contract being in NYS. (Thank you sooooooooo much Ronald Reagan for that wonderful piece of banking deregulation).

Maybe we should get someone to post step by step instructions on what to do after the new HiFi control module is installed.
What files to load and in what order. Also, how long can we expect each file to take to fully load. That may help with people powering down the ALP before a full update has taken place. Seems like people are having difficulty with this. Just a thought.

Don't load anything just switch the control sets. Firmware for the control sets gets installed in the control sets and has nothing to do with the CPU. Once updated there is no need to load the files over and over.

I think this is the issue... The External LED stops blinking at the half way point and some might think it froze but its normal and they just need to wait until it reboots which can take 2 more minutes.

Process should be done in the following order:

1. CPU Firmware needs to be updated (Normal process which takes around 60 seconds)
2. Control Set needs to be connected and will work with no voices and then the HiFi Control Set firmware needs to be loaded and then the VoicePack but both files can be on the same drive and will go in this order automatically.

1- swap out controller to new HiFi controller
2 -Update the CPU firmware - (first newer file)
3- Update the new Control Set Firmware and add voicepak files as well (2nd and 3rd new files)
4- Power Down the unit after the ALP system has uploaded all the new files
5- Re-start the system
I don't use the little LED light the system came with, I just use the light on the old/new controller
I should have a total of five files now on the USB drive I leave inserted for privacy mode? (key, bin, ucsethifi, setup, voicepak)??? If I'm missing something please advise.

Do it in stages.... Swap 1 and 2....

While you have the old control set up and running first update the firmware. Once done swap controllers and it should work but will not have voices and then you can proceed to update the rest of the files.

I just seem to be the winner on defective hardware BRD, no need to rush a new one or anything, let ALP take a look at the videos and see what they think. Maybe we need to force a reflash (how to do)? I'll be happy to run any diagnostics you guys need.

Yeah I did all files at once too and had to spend a bit of time playing with it to get it to stay on afterwards. My issues could likely have been user error, but doing the files separately could help reduce the chances for that to happen to others.

Drive included:

IMPORTANT: Please START YOUR VEHICLE or be in a power setting where your vehicle power will not cut the ignition power off or you could loose power during the update which would cause issues since the process takes over 5 minutes to load and update all of the files. In my car in accessory power after a few minutes if the car is not started accessory power will turn off.
