I wasn't sure where to post this thread so I thought this was closest thing to being on topic.

So I ordered a used 4S for ALP dedicated display . I don't have the password and I need to clear off the phone. Does anyone know how to do it without the password.

Connect it to your computer and format it, that's what I used to do a long time ago with my iPod touches lol

Did you ask who you purchased it from the code they set? Might be the easiest and fastest solution?

Did they list in the auction that the device worked and was unlocked? If so a quick PayPal dispute will surely get their attention.

Connect it to your computer, open iTunes, select the device and click "Restore".

EDIT: You may need to put it in recovery mode before restoring: http://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/iosapps/how-hack-ipad-iphone-passcode-3504927/

When I do this is says I must turn "find phone" off before it will do it. Bad thing is to turn "find phone" off you have to have apple password.

I am jail breaking it now and trying to clear it out with a another process.

iPhones have internal batteries that are not user accessible unless he takes the phone apart. One of the many reasons I dislike Apple devices.
