We are getting close to start Beta Testing the Android app so wanted to create a separate thread just for Android. I had promised before the end of the year and I am sure it will most likely be earlier because they have been making good progress. Just so that people dont think its Vaporware here are some screen shots from my Note II taken a few minutes ago:

This is awesome- I have been watching this forum and just purchased a new 2015 M3- really wanted to install the Antilaser Priority but am an Android User. This makes my decision to go Antilaser an easy one! Off topic but if money wasn't an issue would you recommend the full Beltronics STiR and ALP vs the integrated option? I hate to lose the GPS lockouts- my old Cobra false alerts way too much...

While the integration is nice its much quietier with the Full Sti-R Plus. We have discounted bundles so just let us know when you are ready.

Tom ,

is the Hifi not far behind ?
Driving in a banned area for cell phone and having Alp connect is a ticket assured sooner or later :
just holding a cell = ticket + 3 points lost ...and some wants to increase the fine + points up to 9.

Get something like a proclip mount so you don't have to hold your phone. I have one preordered for my iPhone 6.

Right , i have something similar ...but you dont know the cops here in Quebec ...they make their own interpretation
of the law ....holding\touching\pickup all the same = ticket ....and they tell you to go discuss with the judge
if you are not satisfied... piggery at its best.

I saw people ticketed for picking up their phone that falled on the car floor....crazy.

I will definitively wait for the HiFi

I guess I don't quite understand here. If your phone is mounted in the clip, why would there be a need to pick it up? In California, it is also a ticket if you are talking on your headset or texting while driving, but it allows for you to glance down if it is being used as a nav. Someone contested that in court and won. But back the original point, you would only need to tap the phone if an alert went off or if you want to turn off the system in the event of being pulled over.

Hello Tom
Just read Tman's reply (with his question"is the Hifi not far behind ?") and would like to add that I too await the HiFi.
IMO here in our Nation's Capitol, where all forms of CM are illegal, the HiFi & a kill switch are a better stealth plan than the the iphone/android options.
I do hope the you can have it on the market very soon.

I guess it is a matter of taste , i prefer not using a phone to get notified of an alert , so i will wait for the HiFi.

Seems California leos are much more tolerant toward cell phone.

The leat chance i give cop to stop me , the better i feel :whoo:

I must admit however that the idea a cruising up your lovely NJ Pike with an iphone 6 (plus of course) providing Navigation, Music & Countermeasures is pretty cool.
Is the ability to have both HiFi & Bluetooth at one's fingertips in the works at ALP?
I've seen posts suggesting an RJ45 A/B box can handle the task but wonder if ALP is considering making the feature part of their control functions.

No, There will not be any option to run both at the same time. You can use the switch box to switch between one and another and we might even come out with a better AL Branded method to switch in the future but it will still be one or the other.

So it a 1 to 1 with exactly the same features & look and feel?

Or can we expect anything new with the android version

Appears to be one to one right now. The sounds are the same. I feel like the graphics are tougher looking. Very subtle differences but they are definitely on the right track.

There are some slight changes but mostly the same. We need them both to be caught up with each other before we add more functionality. When adding improvements we want to be able to add additional functionality to both at the same time. Don't want to treat one user any different then the other.

In California, it's legal to use a cell phone while driving if you're using it to check a map.

Is there somewhere that we can send letters to request the ability to run both the app and the key pad at the same time?

IMO it really makes no sense that the key pad cant still be utilized while using the app. What happens if your phone dies or you forget it, the ALP wont work at all??

Sorry for being annoying, but it makes no sense at all. I know of no other device that uses a wired key pad that when you use the app the key pad becomes inoperable.

Sure it will plug in the control set. Why would you not have it in your car anyway? The network switch mentioned earlier is a simple fix.

Triple question :)
Does the new Android version have a landscape mode?
What version Android is this app limited too?
What phones is it going to be tested and proved to work on?

Thanks in advance

We have only tested on around 10 phones or so at this point. We are running a Pre-Beta version to iron out bugs, etc. Once we are out of Pre-Beta phase and move into a Beta Version (Maybe 30 days or so more) we will share it with several to begin testing on a larger scale before roll out towards the end of the year. As of now just about any Android Phone that supports Bluetooth 4.0 should be compatible. It worked with some phones that I had that were over 3+ years old. No Landscape at this point.

Maybe because I have been running it for so long with the app, I can't imagine why anyone who has the ALP would ever want to run it with out the bluetooth and the app. Why don't you just install the switch? Seems easy enough.

So if the APK is out in prebeta, that mean that YaV1 might support ALP??? Given that was the only thing holding up progress on it :)

We will not let anyone test until it moves from Pre-Beta to Beta version and then we have many that asked to be part of the Beta process.

CJR238 you need to get the switch to go back and forth. Tom sent me the switch and it is very handy to have. although honestly with my dedicated display i am more than happy with using BT only.

I appreciate the info. I will probably have to wait until I get to Cali to order it. Dont think it will make it before I have to leave. I have noticed some BT connectivity issues with my Iphone 6 plus IOS 8.1.2 and ALPConnect. It will randomly cycle the system into parking mode only. I have to select city/hwy to get it back into defense mode.

You are not alone... Its an iPhone 6 issue with IOS 8.x issue. AntiLaser has tried everything but its an issue with ISO and LE (Low Energy) BT devices.

I am going to try updating my NEXUS 7 and mount it above my stereo. I just need a newer version of jellybean or whatever its called so I can use the ALPConnect on that. Any suggestions on an Apple product that wont be affected by the IOS 8 issue? Might try an Ipod or Apple Mini if those are safe. Need some money first. lol

Any iPhone that is not an iPhone 6, You are better off if you want a dedicated display using a cheaper older Android Phone. There are many that would work that would be under $100.

I think Google usually offers updates for their devices, but just in case they don't for your version, look it up on xda-dev. Read how to install a recovery like twrp, then flash the latest stable version of slimrom (can be found on slimroms.net).

Are you good with Android? Problem I am having is BT 4.0 LE, I have tried many external BLE 4.0 Dongles and Android just does not have drivers for them and its a waiting game trying to get Google to add support for 4.0 USB BT Adapters.

I installed the latest version of CyanogenMod and will test it out and see how it goes. I wanted to use Escort Live on the android also but I have the iPhone version of EL so that wont work. Not sure why Escort had to make two versions of the cable since their Max2 works with IOS and Android. If ALP BT can be used with both then Escort should take note. Not really happy with the development of EL or Escort support for that matter, but I digress.

General concensus is that EL is vastly better on iOS. They probably went with different dongles for each OS because of the bt versions in effect at the time of development, much like Valentine did the same. ALP benefited by developing for bt le from the start.

Any Android CarPC, They all only currently have support for BT 2.0 but they have USB Ports for BT Dongles but no support drivers to utilize the BT 4.0 USB Dongles.

For the beta, even if you had the package file, it wouldn't install on anything less than 4.4, giving some sort of spurious error such as 'parse error'. I'm sure that the Google Play Store will not let you select and install the app if its not compatible with your device.
