Cop was sitting in that paved area off to the right: https://www.google.com/maps/@37.281572,-121.942585,3a,75y,64.73h,81.96t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sOuOdSpnMoQeFji0tvoHevw!2e0

He was running rear-facing radar. It was interesting how much the terrain (hills/buildings off to the right, combined with the curve in the road) affects the range of the STi-R+. I got only about 10 seconds' warning before the cop could have had my speed.

The CHP officer was on the phone and staring at some sort of display (probably the radar unit) in his cruiser. Not sure why he was running radar, because there was so much traffic it would be hard to tell who's going what speed, unless there was a car coming around the bend (just behind this area, turn the view the other way) at around 90 mph when everyone else was going 70. Is radar really a useful tool in commute traffic with 4 lanes of freeway?

Stalkers are pretty decent for singling out cars in traffic. Direction sensing and having two antennas both help you confirm a target. At least he can in attentively listen to Doppler tone for a high roller and then take a confirmation laser shot if necessary.

Most of the cruisers I see do tend to run CO radar along with laser or without laser. Motorcycle units tend to be laser only.

Police are very well trained in the field. With experience a pack of cars is no issue trying to
identifie a slow or faster target.

I hadn't seen a CHP cruiser in this spot since last July. And then, this morning, this happened:

Note that this douchebag passes me ON THE RIGHT at a 10-15 mph speed differential on the way to his hiding spot.

What do you think is more accurate for cops to use, Ka or K band? This article (https://kustomsignals.com/news_and_events/article/police-speed-radar-gun-frequency-information-k-ka-ku-x-bands) says K Band is used more than Ka.

Depends on the contracts the agencies have with the manufactures. KA is becoming the more preferred band.
